Cube Index is a book devoted to visually showcasing the huge spectrum of mechanical puzzles. The book visually features over 6,000 mechanical puzzles from the collections of over 100 collectors and shops from around the world and up to date with puzzles released through January 1st, 2017! The focus of the book is to provide a comprehensive visual guide to all mass produced twisty puzzles. To a lesser extent, we also survey some of the most iconic & historically significant mass produced releases among all other categories of puzzles including: assembly, disassembly, interlocking, tanglement, sliding, dexterity, route-finding, jigsaw, edge matching, folding, electronic/electro-mechanical and more! The book has at least one photo of each cataloged puzzle. This includes all color and sticker variations. Many puzzles will also include some combination of the following (depending on availability of information): the approximate year in which it was released to the public, the company that produced it, the original inventor(s), and a short description. Each puzzle is being assigned a unique serial number, and will be organized based on our own simplified 10 category system. All puzzles can be quickly and easily located and referenced via master indexes. All photographs are printed in color. Each book is hand numbered as there are only 1000 printed copies. NOTE: A mechanical puzzle is a 3D object that presents a specific problem and is designed to test ones patience and skill. Twisty puzzles are one of the most well known sub-set of mechanical puzzles, and include sequential movement style puzzles like the Rubik’s Cube. Compiled by: Brian Kaplan
