Karakuri Skyscrapers

This work was designed for an exhibition with the theme, “GO”. Five buildings are standing on the top of the box. The height of the buildings are adjustable. What is the pattern of the top board? It must be hard to open the drawer without having some viewing point. What if you were the fixed star?

Made with interesting design and quality that is hallmark for Karakuri! Their skilled work has been passed through generations from the Edo era. Today, the craftsmen continue making new works, and the world of the “Karakuri box” continues evolving.
